A meeting took place in the library during the week between members of the Management of South Dublin County Council Community Dept., the Residents’ Association, the Management Committee of the Community Centre, Ballyroan Parish and a number of local Councillors/TD.
As agreed with SDCC the Community Centre was vacated in Jan. ’09 to enable the work to commence on site in Feb. ’09. It then appeared that the project had become a casualty in the recession much to the annoyance and frustration of the local community.
We are now happy that SDCC are committed to the project and the work will be funded. The Community Centre will be refurbished (along with the building of the Pastoral Centre) and reopened, as soon as possible, to enable the good work done voluntarily by groups such as the Community Care, Meals on Wheels to continue into the future. SDCC apologised to the community for any hurt and frustration the delay in the project has caused to the community.

We took the keys and possession of the new Pastoral Centre on Tuesday 1st June and I must say I was really impressed with the design, concept and quality of the building. It is a new resource for the Parish and I can see all kinds of possibilities as our Taoiseach would say ‘Going forward’.
The builders are still finishing off bits and pieces so we cannot open it generally for the next week or two, but are inviting any/all of you to visit after the Masses this weekend (weekend June 5th/6th) to see the bones and would welcome ideas and even maybe a name for it either to me, Sr. Margaret, Aine or any member of the Parish Council.
May it be a place of welcome, learning and bonding for the Parish of the Holy Spirit.
Fr. Brendan.
