Bambinelli Sunday was celebrated in our church on Sunday 15th December. We blessed our infant Jesus figures for our cribs – and Santa popped in to see us
Bambinelli Sunday is a strong tradition among families in Italy, when children (and adults) bring their Baby Jesus figure from the crib in their homes to St. Peter’s Square in Rome where Pope Francis blesses both the people and the figure of Baby Jesus. He then gives instructions for the Baby to be placed under the Christmas tree at home until Christmas Day, where he would then be placed in the manger – marking the arrival of Christ.
